Record Breaking Cash 5 Lottery Ticket Sold in Lehigh County

A game-record Pennsylvania Lottery Cash 5 jackpot of just over $2 million from the Tuesday, January 17, drawing was shared by three winning tickets sold in Allegheny, Beaver and Lehigh counties.

“We’re thrilled that the largest jackpot in Cash 5 history will be shared by several big winners,” said Lottery Executive Director Drew Svitko. “Last night’s historic drawing also created nearly 159,000 other Cash 5 winners all across Pennsylvania.”

The jackpot-winning tickets correctly matched all five balls drawn, 03-04-12-15-39, to each win $666,667, less applicable tax withholding. The winning tickets were sold by:
  • Community Supermarket, 1710 Pacific Ave., Natrona Heights, Allegheny County;
  • Marathon, 3608 Broadhead Road, Monaca, Beaver County; and
  • Sunoco, 1602 S. 4th St., Allentown, Lehigh County.

Each retailer earns a $5,000 selling bonus.

This record Cash 5 jackpot, which totaled $2,000,001, had been growing since Saturday, January 7, when a $125,000 jackpot was won by one ticket sold in Allegheny County. The game’s previous record was a $1.9 million jackpot that was split by two winning tickets in 2013.

The prizes must be claimed and the tickets validated before the winners can be identified. Cash 5 winners have one year from the drawing date to claim prizes.

The Lottery encourages each holder of a jackpot-winning ticket to sign the back of the ticket, call the Lottery at 717-702-8146 and file a claim at any of Lottery’s seven area offices or at Lottery headquarters in Middletown, Dauphin County.

Claims may be filed Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. at area offices and from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. at headquarters.

More than 158,900 other Cash 5 tickets won prizes of various amounts in the drawing, creating “Winners, winners – everywhere!” Players should check every ticket, every time. Lower-tier prizes may be claimed at Lottery retailers.

In Allegheny County, the Pennsylvania Lottery awarded more than $247.6 million in prizes to winners and provided more than $131.9 million to programs that benefit older residents during the 2015-16 fiscal year. In Beaver County, the Lottery awarded more than $32.3 million in prizes and contributed more than $17.6 million to programs serving the county’s older residents.
